Justin Bieber Volunteers To Help Brittney Griner Get Back To The U.S.

In response to the news that WNBA star Brittney Griner has been sentenced to nine years in prison, Justin Bieber has offered to assist her in getting out of jail.

She was arrested with vape canisters containing marijuana oil in her bags in February at a Moscow airport after Russian police found the vape canisters in the backpacks of the American basketball player.

To Announce The Help, Justin Posted An Instagram Story

After being held in custody for more than a month, the 31-year-old is now revealed to have been convicted of possession and smuggling of drugs at the hands of a Russian judge.

As a result of this sentencing, there have been a lot of backlashes, including from Bieber, who posted an Instagram Story that reads: “THIS HURTS. If anyone knows of any way I can help, please let me know.”.

Celebrities Also Criticized The Verdict

Mia Farrow was another celebrity who lashed out at Britney Griner’s verdict, saying, “The Russian judge ignored everything Britney Griner had said in her side of the story. He sentenced her to 9 years in a “penal colony” for carrying two medically prescribed vaping cartridges. Damn. Heartbreaking.”

In addition to athletes joining the ‘Free Brittney Griner’ campaign, fellow pro basketball player Kyrie Irving has asked President Joe Biden to step in and take action in the case of Brittney Griner.

As he wrote in a tweet, he said: “What is truly happening with our Queen @brittneygriner @POTUS @VP? Please give us an Update.”

She Apologized To Her Family And Her Team For Her Actions

After receiving the verdict in her drug possession trial, Griner apologized to her family and her team before the final arguments were heard before the verdict was read.

When she flew to Moscow earlier this year to play basketball in the city of Yekaterinburg, she never intended to break the law by bringing vape cartridges containing cannabis oil into the country.

She said, “I want to apologize to my teammates, club, fans, and the city of (Yekaterinburg) for my mistake and the embarrassment I brought on them.

“I want to also apologize to my parents, my siblings, the Phoenix Mercury organization back at home, the amazing women of the WNBA, and my amazing spouse back at home.”

Her Possession Of THC Amounted To Just 0.7 Grams

Even though the basketballer, who was seized by the Russian justice system at the airport for possession of marijuana, only had 0.7 grams of the drug in her possession, the Russian court found her guilty despite that.

The ruling could still result in Griner being able to return home to the United States despite ongoing tensions between the U.S. and Russia concerning the Ukrainian crisis.

Upon learning that Griner had been wrongfully detained, the POTUS made the following statement after the verdict was revealed: “Today, American citizen Brittney Griner received a prison sentence that is one more reminder of what the world already knew: Russia is wrongfully detaining Brittney.

“It’s unacceptable, and I call on Russia to release her immediately so she can be with her wife, loved ones, friends, and teammates.”

It is clear from Justin Bieber’s post on Instagram that he genuinely cares about getting Griner back to her home. There is no doubt that he has a good heart. However, let’s see if there is any possibility that Griner can be released from the Russian prison shortly.
